About Marcus: Marcus is the barn’s dependable “can-do-anything” horse – steady, versatile, and endlessly kind. He thoughtfully adjusts his movement to support each student and shows remarkable patience with both humans and his fellow horses. Always willing to try something new, this older (and wiser!) gentleman has also learned to truly appreciate a well-earned nap.
Fun Fact: Marcus curls his upper lip and “smiles” after he is given an especially yummy treat!
Horsey Hoofnote: When a horse curls its upper lip, that’s called the flehmen response. It helps them “analyze” interesting smells using a special scent organ in their mouth.
